When a kitchen feels closed off and outdated, it doesn’t just limit function, it limits the entire home’s potential. That’s exactly what our client, the Stringer-Bowsher family, experienced before reaching out to Team Renovate for help.

Their dream? A bold, open-concept kitchen filled with natural stone, vibrant color, and inviting spaces for cooking and gathering. Here’s how we transformed their vision into a stunning new centerpiece for their Poway home.

The Challenge | A Cramped, Outdated Kitchen

The original kitchen suffered from:

  • A small, enclosed layout that felt isolated from the rest of the house.
  • Dull, uninspired finishes that didn’t reflect the family’s personality or modern style.
  • Inefficient storage and workflow, making cooking and entertaining a challenge.

The client wanted a kitchen that would not only look beautiful but would also function better for daily life and social gatherings.

Our Solution | An Open, Vibrant, and Custom-Crafted Space

To achieve their dream kitchen, we proposed a complete rework that included:

  • Removing the dividing wall to open the kitchen to the living and dining areas.
  • Reworking the footprint to add a large center island with seating and storage.
  • Custom cabinetry installation (from Cabinets.com) in a two-tone design: cream uppers and dark navy lowers.
  • Luxury green quartzite countertops, featuring a dramatic waterfall-edge island.
  • Green herringbone backsplash tying into the natural stone tones, plus a custom mosaic accent behind the range.
  • Modern stainless steel appliances and upgraded plumbing fixtures.
  • Rich, natural-tone wood flooring to ground the space and create visual warmth.
  • Recessed lighting and pendant fixtures for layered, functional lighting.

Every choice balanced bold design with lasting quality.

The Renovation Details | Full Layout Rebuild

This was a full remodel, not just a cosmetic update. We completed:

  • Wall removal and layout restructuring for a true open-concept space.
  • Installation of custom cabinetry (cream and navy two-tone design).
  • Luxury green quartzite countertops across the perimeter and island.
  • Herringbone backsplash tiling, accented with a custom mosaic focal point.
  • Upgraded sink, faucet, range hood, and all new stainless steel appliances.
  • New wood flooring throughout the kitchen and adjoining areas.
  • Lighting upgrades, including recessed lights and decorative pendant lights for ambiance.

The finished kitchen feels bold, bright, and perfectly suited for hosting family and friends, without sacrificing functionality or style.

Project Highlights | Quick Facts

  • Location: Poway, CA

  • Scope: Full kitchen remodel and open-concept reconfiguration

  • Budget: $48k

  • Design Focus: Bold natural stone, color, craftsmanship, open layout

The Result | A Bold and Welcoming Kitchen That Reflects Personal Style

Today, the Stringer-Bowsher family enjoys a kitchen that feels vibrant, open, and uniquely theirs. The luxury green quartzite, custom cabinetry, and thoughtful layout upgrades turned a once-closed-off kitchen into the heart of the home, a place for cooking, entertaining, and making memories.

It’s a powerful example of what happens when craftsmanship, creativity, and collaboration come together.
