When a bathroom doesn’t fit your lifestyle or safety needs, it’s time for a thoughtful upgrade. That’s exactly what our client, Cinda Raupe, needed when she reached out to Team Renovate.

Her main bathroom was dark, outdated, and impractical for her needs as a senior homeowner. She envisioned a space that was not only beautiful but also designed for comfort, accessibility, and ease of use. Here's how we brought that vision to life in Poway, CA.

The Challenge | Outdated Design and Lack of Accessibility

Before the remodel, Cinda’s bathroom had:

  • An outdated bathtub that was difficult and unsafe to use.
  • Limited storage and poor layout for daily routines.
  • Dark, heavy finishes that made the space feel smaller and less welcoming.

She needed a bathroom that was safer, more functional, and designed with accessibility, but without sacrificing style.

Our Solution | A Safe, Stylish, and Senior-Friendly Remodel

After consulting with Cinda, we developed a custom renovation plan that focused on comfort, accessibility, and modern elegance:

  • Removed the old bathtub and built a curbless walk-in shower with a marble bench for comfort.
  • Installed custom cabinetry, including a vanity and separate makeup station, tailored to her daily needs.
  • Chose a herringbone tile layout on the shower walls for dynamic style and visual interest.
  • Used Corsai white marble on the countertops and shower bench for a sophisticated, durable surface.
  • Separated the toilet area from the vanity using a half-wall and pocket door for privacy and better flow.
  • Upgraded finishes to a bright, clean color palette with matte black hardware for modern contrast.
  • Added built-in storage cabinetry and improved lighting throughout the space.
  • Installed grab bars and planned the layout for easy mobility and safety.

The Renovation Details | Full Demo to Finished Luxury

This was a full renovation down to the studs, including:

  • Demolition of the existing bathroom finishes and outdated layout.
  • Upgrade the walk-in shower featuring custom herringbone tile, a hex tile floor, and a marble shower bench.
  • Custom white cabinetry installation with matte black hardware.
  • Natural Corsai marble countertops for both vanity and makeup area.
  • Privacy divider and pocket door construction between the vanity and toilet areas.
  • Wood-look tile flooring installation for a warm, durable finish.
  • Painting, new mirrors, upgraded lighting, faucets, and fixtures throughout.
  • Accessibility features like grab bars carefully integrated for safety without compromising design.

Project Highlights | Quick Facts

  • Location: Poway, CA

  • Scope: Full accessible bathroom remodel

  • Budget: $30k

  • Design Focus: Senior-friendly, stylish, modern, safe

The Result | A Modern, Accessible, and Elegant Main Bathroom

Today, Cinda’s bathroom offers the perfect blend of style and functionality, a space that’s easy to navigate, thoughtfully designed, and truly beautiful. The combination of custom cabinetry, elegant finishes, and accessible features ensures that she can enjoy her home comfortably for years to come.

It’s a reminder that accessibility upgrades don’t have to feel clinical, with the right design, they can be luxurious, modern, and welcoming.
