The kitchen is the heart of the home, a place for gathering, cooking, and making memories. But when your kitchen feels dark, outdated, or cramped, it can weigh down the whole living experience. That’s exactly what our client, the Robinson family, was facing.

Here’s how Team Renovate partnered with them to completely transform their Poway kitchen into a bright, functional, and modern space that truly reflects their lifestyle.

The Challenge | A Dark, Closed-Off Kitchen

Before the remodel, the Robinsons’ kitchen featured dated honey oak cabinets, brown countertops, and a segmented layout that cut the space off from the rest of the home. The kitchen felt cramped, dark, and disconnected, the opposite of the open, welcoming environment they envisioned.

They needed a design that was brighter, more functional, and better integrated with their living space.

Our Solution | An Open-Concept Kitchen Designed for Modern Living

After collaborating with the Robinsons, we proposed a complete gut renovation with several key upgrades:

  • Removed the upper cabinets over the peninsula to open the kitchen to the living area.

  • Installed custom two-tone cabinetry, clean white uppers paired with rich navy blue lowers for a bold, timeless style.

  • Added a large quartz island featuring extra prep space, storage, and casual seating.

  • Upgraded appliances, including a sleek stainless steel hood and a functional pot filler over the stove.

  • Brightened the space with a white textured backsplash, floating shelves, and all-new modern lighting fixtures.

By reimagining the layout and choosing thoughtful materials, we were able to create a kitchen that felt fresh, airy, and effortlessly stylish.

The Renovation Details | A Full Rebuild

This project wasn’t a surface-level update, it was a full transformation from the ground up.

Our scope included:

  • Complete demo of existing cabinetry, countertops, flooring, appliances, and lighting.

  • New open-concept layout connecting kitchen and living areas.

  • Custom cabinetry installation in a two-tone color scheme.

  • Quartz countertops with a waterfall island centerpiece.

  • Floating shelves in place of some upper cabinets for a minimalist aesthetic.

  • Brand-new lighting throughout, including recessed lights, pendants, and wall sconces.

  • White textured backsplash for added brightness and dimension.

  • Installation of high-end appliances and a pot filler for functionality and luxury.

  • Updated hardware and plumbing fixtures.

  • New continuous flooring to tie the space together seamlessly.

Project Highlights | Quick Facts

  • Location: Poway, CA

  • Scope: Full kitchen remodel

  • Budget: $46,665.83

  • Design Focus: Bright, modern, functional, open-concept living

The Result | A Kitchen That’s Truly the Heart of the Home

Today, the Robinsons’ kitchen is no longer a dark, closed-off space, it’s a bright, welcoming centerpiece of their home. The open-concept design, custom cabinetry, large island, and thoughtful touches come together to create a kitchen that’s both beautiful and built for daily living.

It’s a space they’ll love cooking, entertaining, and spending time in for years to come.
