Sometimes, even beautiful new cabinets can fall short if they aren’t finished properly.
When a Normal Heights homeowner found themselves stuck with poorly adjusted cabinetry and missing hardware after a previous contractor left the job incomplete, they called Team Renovate to finish the work the right way.

Here’s how we stepped in to deliver the quality craftsmanship and polished finish they deserved.

The Challenge | Incomplete Cabinet Installation

The client’s concerns were clear:

  • Cabinet doors and drawers were poorly adjusted, leading to uneven gaps, misalignments, and difficulty opening and closing.
  • Cabinet hardware (doorknobs) had not been installed at all, leaving the cabinetry looking and feeling unfinished.

They needed professional attention to detail to restore functionality and bring the cabinetry to a fully finished, polished state.

Our Solution | Precision Adjustment and Finishing Touches

After inspecting the installation, we proposed a two-part solution:

  • Adjust all cabinet doors and drawers for smooth operation, even spacing, and proper alignment.
  • Install client-provided decorative doorknobs, carefully positioned and leveled for consistency and visual appeal.

We approached the project with a focus on craftsmanship, detail, and clear communication, everything the client hadn’t received the first time around.

The Upgrade Details | Finishing the Job Right

This was a precision refresh project, not a full rebuild, but the impact was significant:

  • Adjusted cabinet doors and drawers to open and close properly with even spacing.
  • Installed new doorknobs on all cabinet doors and drawers using careful alignment techniques.
  • Performed quality control checks to ensure every fixture was level, flush, and secure.
  • Left the space spotless and ready to enjoy.

With just a few hours of focused work, we took the cabinetry from frustrating and unfinished to beautiful and fully functional.

Project Highlights | Quick Facts

  • Location: Normal Heights, San Diego, CA

  • Scope: Cabinet adjustment and hardware installation

  • Budget: $650

  • Focus: Precision, functionality, attention to detail

The Result | Fully Functional, Beautiful Cabinets

Today, the client’s cabinetry is a finished feature of the home, perfectly aligned, easy to use, and polished with elegant hardware.
They were thrilled to finally have the beautiful, functional kitchen they had originally envisioned.

Sometimes, small finishing details make the biggest difference in daily comfort and home satisfaction.
